00:00:00
Speaker 1: testing. Hello, hello , hello, hi and welcome to the
00:00:23
Pete George experience. I am obviously Pete George, so I'm
00:00:29
moving everything here and making a big noise, but there we
00:00:32
go. So today's show is just a little bit of a heads up of what
00:00:40
we're actually doing with the show and podcast and everything
00:00:45
like that. Also, I'm going to talk about a little country. I
00:00:52
call it outside 10 minutes. It is 10 minutes outside of
00:00:57
Australia. So I will be having a little bit of a chat about that.
00:01:02
But let's get into the fun stuff first and let me just check
00:01:10
something over here. There we go , that might pick it up a little
00:01:16
bit sharper. Yeah, I had it on manual. I was playing before. So
00:01:22
what are we doing with the show? Well, we're doing a fair bit and
00:01:33
I will be. Let me just get this back. So basically, what the
00:01:45
show's going to be is a bit more educational, a bit more leaning
00:01:50
towards politics, mental health and interviews. And coming up
00:01:58
when the gentleman comes back from the United Kingdom will be
00:02:03
interviewing Colin Lilly and he's got a new song coming out
00:02:10
on the 29th. So make sure you jump onto his sites. Jump onto
00:02:19
his sites. It's Colin Lilly music on Facebook and his new
00:02:29
song coming out is Honky Tonk Southern Sky, and I have heard a
00:02:34
little bit of it and it's really honky tonk and I think it tells
00:02:38
a fair bit of his life. So we'll get to have a good chat with
00:02:43
Colin. The other thing, and I'll show you, we've built a new
00:02:49
website. I've done it over the last couple of days, so that's
00:03:01
the new site. Bit more on brand, using the logo a little bit, I
00:03:07
still got a little bit to do Need to contact the guys at
00:03:12
PodPage who will do a clever thing for us podcasters, and
00:03:25
that's going to be a little bit of a hint of what's to come, so
00:03:29
you can go in there. At the moment I think I've got all the
00:03:33
episodes. So there in there that we've done, there's a bit of a
00:03:41
bit of an about and all that kind of bits and pieces, and so
00:03:47
I've still got a little bit of design and to do. So there we go
00:03:56
. So that's the website. Stop sharing it and come back to this
00:04:02
One of the things that we will be doing and I've got to do a
00:04:05
series coming up in the next little while, starting this week
00:04:12
, and it's going to be on Australian Politics and I'm
00:04:17
going to start it with. First episode's got to be
00:04:21
Australian the political system, how it works, how it's into the
00:04:27
three federal state, local and how shitfully we are really
00:04:36
really, really over governed quickly. And it's what have
00:04:55
where I've a government. Some of the states are extremely over
00:04:57
governed as resulted in hung parliament or a minority
00:05:03
government down in Tassie. But we'll get into that and I'll
00:05:06
explain that a little bit later during the week with a full
00:05:09
video on the Australian political system. Then I'll go
00:05:14
through and show you how we go through voting. Then I'll go
00:05:19
through how each state operates, or mainly Queensland, because
00:05:24
that's where I am. Then I'll go into politics in general and
00:05:30
each week I'll talk about those sort of things. And that sort of
00:05:33
leads me into this. There's a little place 10 minutes outside
00:05:38
of Australia and I caught I got this from day met and average,
00:05:44
so if you know who day met and average is, give me a thumbs up,
00:05:48
because she he Barry Humphrey's was a legend. So the 10 minutes
00:05:58
from Australia is a little territory called Australian
00:06:03
capital territory, which is where Canberra is the capital of
00:06:09
that, where our federal government sits.
00:06:15
So this week and I don't care how controversial this is this
00:06:21
week the ACT people government has decided to pass legislation
00:06:35
that allows 14 year olds to change their gender and name
00:06:42
without consent of their parents . What the hell is this world
00:06:48
coming to? If they're 14, that means they can be charged if
00:06:55
they do an adult crime, as far as I'm concerned, with the same
00:07:01
repercussions. So no consequence , and I don't think that's going
00:07:05
to happen to people. I don't think they want that to actually
00:07:11
happen that 14 year olds get charged and treated like adults.
00:07:15
So I got no idea who the Muppets are down there in Canberra that
00:07:21
who've decided that 14 year olds can change their gender and sex
00:07:25
without the parents consent. So what does that mean? It can mean
00:07:29
a hell of a lot of other things that they can go and get. I
00:07:33
haven't totally finished reading the bill. It's quite a lengthy
00:07:36
bill, but they've more than likely been able to get puberty
00:07:41
blockers, gender reassignment at 14 here in Australia.
00:07:47
It's a little bit different than some places around the world.
00:07:50
They can't vote, they can't smoke, they can't drink, they
00:07:57
can't do a lot of things, including thanks for the thumbs
00:08:03
up, including get married. It's illegal for an adult to have any
00:08:14
sort of relationship with them. So why in the hell has a group
00:08:22
of politicians 25 of them in fact in Canberra made that
00:08:30
decision. And here's the other part to it that I get frustrated
00:08:35
with. If that's their decision, did they take that to the people
00:08:41
of Australian Capital, territory , act, and let them vote on that
00:08:47
to make a decision? And I'm getting a little bit
00:08:51
second-tired of a lot of politicians, political parties,
00:08:56
people in power making these sort of decisions where they
00:09:00
don't take them to the people and we don't get to have a say
00:09:05
on them. So that's my little rant. But keep an eye out and if
00:09:11
it happens in your state, make sure you're all over it and we
00:09:15
don't want kids not letting themselves be kids.
00:09:21
Because I sure as hell at 14, I was just worried about footy,
00:09:24
cricket and what I was going to eat, not who I was, what I was,
00:09:29
and I don't think anybody else was as well. So that's that Now
00:09:34
the other reason why I'm going to do a few things a little bit
00:09:36
different. During the week I had a little issue with my heart. I
00:09:46
went off tap and I had a little bit of an episode where I was
00:09:48
having a palpitation for a bad nail. Right arm went dead, ended
00:09:51
up in hospital doing a stress test this Wednesday. So I don't
00:09:58
think there's anything terribly wrong. I was diagnosed with SVT,
00:10:01
which is like a skipping heart beat thing, but we've got to
00:10:06
find out what it is and then I'll come back better and
00:10:08
stronger. I won't be doing it as many lives. I'll be doing more
00:10:15
properly cut videos because I've learned how to do that and yeah,
00:10:22
so that's about it. So that's the little catch up.
00:10:25
This week There'll be a fair bit on the agenda coming up with
00:10:33
those sort of things Going up the sunny case. So we'll do a
00:10:38
few reviews of places up there. And, yeah, absolutely looking
00:10:47
forward to having a chat again with Colin. So I'll leave a link
00:10:54
in the video description or cards or whatever it is on
00:10:58
YouTube to where I interviewed Colin. It was a good chat. So
00:11:05
he's confirmed when he gets back he'll be happy to do that. So
00:11:08
I'll put a little bit of Colin on so he can. He's a very good
00:11:13
storyteller and tells everything from his heart. So thanks for
00:11:18
popping on, thanks for the likes , shares, make sure that you
00:11:22
follow us on YouTube, spotify, apple podcast, all of those sort
00:11:29
of things. And if you're not sure when I go, just go to
00:11:31
Petergeorgecomau and you should be able to hook up to all of
00:11:39
those things. So enjoy the rest of your week weekend and stay
00:11:48
happy and, as I always say, back up and be the best version of
00:11:54
yourself.
